My version of space
How I imagine outer space
This is a short project on my imagination of outer space based on what I think it appears like and what we grew up seeing in books. I used an alternative photography process called cyanotypes and mixed media. The second image is the only one with hot glue contained with in. some other images I used materials from my kitchen including smoked paprika, washing up liquid, mushrooms, lemon juice, ground pepper, glass bowl, tomatoes, oregano, salt, laundry conditioner, elastic bands and dried coriander.
Have a look through the slides below.
Thoughts
This was about experimenting with what materials in my kitchen to create outer-space, without purchasing products. I enjoyed making it up as I went along not knowing if it was going to be a success. For my research is explored; Lewis Bushe’s project Werner Von braun and Melanie King’s Ancient light. I did not stain them because I wanted to keep the original colour as infinity is a similar colour (predicted of course).
Later on the moon cyanotype print went on to be exhibited at new York and sold.
